When it comes to frosting, cream cheese frosting is one of my favorites. This is a really quick and easy recipe for a great cream cheese frosting that pipes easily and holds it shape. Use this on chocolate cake, carrot cake, or any other cake you enjoy. This is very hard to mess up, so it's a great go-to frosting recipe when you want something homemade.

1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 8-ounce package of cream cheese, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups powdered sugar, plus more as needed
In the bowl of a standing mixer (or a bowl using a handheld electric mixer), beat the butter and cream cheese together. The texture will be smooth at this point. Mix in the vanilla, then stir in the sugar. If you want a thicker texture, add slightly more sugar. Decorate your cooled cake or cupcakes and enjoy. Pin It Now!
