Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

These glazed carrots were a new addition to my family's Thanksgiving this year, and they have now become something I make regularly. They're easy, but a total crowd pleaser. Carrots are a very simple side dish, but adding the brown sugar brings out their natural sweetness and enhances the flavor.

Recipe from The Modern Proper

2 pounds carrots
4 tablespoons butter, cut in to 4 pieces
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Peel your carrots and cut the greens to your desired length. If your carrots vary in thickness, cut the bigger ones in half lengthwise.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the carrots and cook for 10-20 minutes, until the carrots are tender and the butter has browned. Add the brown sugar and stir it in. Cook for a few more minutes, until the brown sugar thickens and coats the carrots. Season with salt and pepper.
