Mostly Homemade Garlic Bread

I am a huge garlic bread fan. I can easily finish off 5 pieces in a sitting, if not more- and this is usually on top of the main course and other sides being offered. One of my dear friends has always made her own garlic bread and once I realized how easy and delicious her technique was, I was hooked! The bread is store bought in this recipe, but the garlic butter spread is homemade. Serve this with any pasta dish, but it's especially good with a homemade bolognese (like this Swiss Betty Bossi one).

(1) Baguette or loaf of French Bread
6 tablespoon butter, at room temperature
1.5 tablespoons olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup chopped basil or parsley
pinch of salt

Preheat your oven to 375F/190C. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. In a bowl mix together the butter, oil, garlic, basil or parsley and salt. Spread evenly on the cut surfaces of the bread. Bake for about 10 minutes, until the bread crisps and the edges become slightly more brown. Once done, cut in to individual pieces and enjoy. Pin It Now!
